THE NHS in Somerset has given the first does of the coronavirus vaccine to nearly all residents over the age of 70.
According to the latest figures, 83.9 per cent of those aged 70-74 have received their first dose of the vaccine.
Compared with other sub-regions, this is the fourth highest percentage.
The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has also given first doses of the vaccine to 102.8 per cent of those aged between 75-79, and 96.3 per cent of those over 80.
The figures are based on population estimates and so the percentage for 75-79's is more than 100 per cent as the estimates will not correspond exactly to the number of people eligible for a first dose.
The figures are based on provisional data from NHS England for vaccinations up to February 7.
The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust said last month that they plan to vaccinate all four priority groups by the middle of February.

“We are on track to meet the Government target to vaccinate those in the first four priority groups by the middle of February, subject to receiving our expected deliveries of vaccines and other consumables," said a spokesperson for the trust.
So far, Somerset has given out 146,379 does of the coronavirus vaccine.
