FOR the second consecutive day, people with Covid-19 have died in all four Somerset districts.

The latest 24-hour figures released by the Government today (Wednesday) show a total of eight deaths in the county council area.

The deaths from any cause are of people who had tested positive for the virus within the last 28 days.

Of those, four people passed away in Somerset West and Taunton, where the death toll since the start of the pandemic has now reached 122.

Two people died in Sedgemoor, taking the overall number of deaths to 109.

There was one death in South Somerset, where a total of 124 people with the virus have now died.

And another person died in Mendip, taking that district's total number of deaths to 116.

The overall number of deaths in Somerset now stands at 471.
