THE work of an artist from Puriton is on show at an exhibition in Milan.

Sarah Darke, a photographic artist, has three of her Lumen print images on show as part of the Kromatic@rt exhibition at M.A.D.S art gallery in Milan.

This international exhibition went ‘live’ online on Friday, January 22, and the work can be seen until February 5.

Ms Darke creates Lumen prints using flowers from her garden.

“A Lumen is essentially like a photogram but uses the sun to develop the image on photographic paper, with exposures ranging from 20 minutes to 10 days,” she said.

Ms Darke started creating her Lumen print series in 2015, and recently began showcasing her work.

Over the last couple of years Sarah has been further experimenting by adding certain ingredients, like salt and lemon juice to enhance texture and depth, and the prints are left out for up to 10 days in all weathers.

Once the exposure has finished the unfixed image is then scanned and a digital archival image produced and the original stored.

She is a member of The Chandos Society of Artists, and had a successful solo exhibition at Bridgwater Arts Centre in 2019.

She has also featured in an article on Photomachina’s Instagram page and was a guest speaker at Connected 2020 online photography exhibition.

Ms Darke has a masters degree in photography and an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society.
