POLICE say this car crashed after the "insured driver taking friends for a drive" lost control in slippery conditions in the Quantock Hills.

The occupants were breaching the Covid-19 restrictions at the time, according to police, who issued a penalty and seized the vehicle.

Two women had to be freed from the vehicle by firefighters after it smashed into the roadside bank at Buncombe Hill, near Broomfield.

Fortunately no-one was injured in the incident at 3.45pm yesterday (Sunday).

But 19 firefighters, three ambulance, ambulance doctors, the air ambulance and a number of police officers attended the scene.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "All for an uninsured driver taking friends for a drive, who ran out of talent in the snow.

"Vehicle seized, Covid tickets issued.

"No injuries, thankfully."
