THERE were more than 200 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in Somerset in the latest 24-hour figures released this evening.

That figures consists of 56 in Somerset West and Taunton, 55 in both South Somerset and Sedgemoor; and 36 in Mendip.

The total of 202 positive tests takes the overall total of positive tests in the county council area to 12,649 since the pandemic began.

The district totals have risen to 3,361 in South Somerset; 3,690 in SWT; 3,471 in Sedgemoor; and 2,127 in Mendip.

The rate of infection based on a seven-day rolling total of new confirmed cases in each district is 268.5 per 100,000 of population in South Somerset (up from 263.7 the previous day); 394.5 in SWT (down from 423.6); 453.8 in Sedgemoor (down from 457.1); and 269.1 in Mendip (down from 273.4).
