A POLICE incident closed the M5 between junction 24 (Bridgwater) and junction 26 (Wellington) last night (January 4).
The southbound carriageway was closed for several hours due to a police investigation.
Now, police have finished the investigations and the road has been gritted. The road is now open.
When the incident happened, traffic was released on the northbound carriageway, and Highways England turned traffic on the southbound carriageway.
At the time, a spokesperson for Highways England said: "Highways England have resources on scene to assist Police with traffic management. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
"Please allow extra time for your journey if you're travelling in the area."
Update: #M5 Southbound J24 #Bridgwater services to J26 #Wellington - @ASPolice have completed their investigations - we have inspected and gritted the road. We have removed all the closures and the carriageway is now open. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
