A PROPERTY has been left badly damaged after a fire in Bridgwater.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at 1.23am today (November 3) to reports of a bedroom fire in Sauneye Way.

Two Fire engines from Bridgwater, were initially sent to the scene.

On arrival crews confirmed the bedroom on the first floor was well alight and asked for further assistance.

Another fire engine was sent to the scene from Bridgwater.

The fire then spread to a spare room and landing so more assistance was requested again.

Two fire engines from Taunton and a Command Support Unit from Street were also sent to the scene.

"The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a main jet," a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

"There was 100 per cent fire damage to the bedroom, 100 per cent smoke damage to first floor and 70 per cent heat damage to remainder of first floor. The cause of the fire was accidental."
