A MAN was rescued from scaffolding in Wedmore after he became unwell.

South Western Ambulance Service requested help from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue to rescue the casualty at 12.48pm yesterday (December 1).

The man was transferred onto a long board and carried through a window and down the stairs of the property.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Fire appliances from Cheddar and Glastonbury, an aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater and specialist rescue teams from Trowbridge and Chippenham were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

"On arrival, the incident commander confirmed that one male had become unwell and unable to descend the scaffolding.

"Crews quickly got to work to transfer the casualty onto a long board and set about a plan to transfer him through a window and back into the property and down the stairs.

"The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service and transferred to hospital."
