THE Covid-19 rate of infection has risen dramatically in one Somerset district while falling considerably in the other three.
In the latest seven-day figures, Mendip recorded 158 new confirmed cases, representing an infection rate of 136.7 per 100,000 of population (up from 114.2 the previous day).
Sedgemoor saw 142 positive tests, giving it an infection rate of 115.3 per 100,000 (down from 131.5).
In Somerset West and Taunton there were 104 new confirmed cases, at a rate of 67 per 100,000 (down from 81.96).
And in South Somerset there were 150 positive tests, at a rate of 89.1 (down from 107.51).
