A map has revealed which specific areas in south east London are worst affected by coronavirus before the capital enters Tier 2 restrictions.

The tool highlights coronavirus hotspots across by colour coding areas according to the infection rate.

Infection rates remain highest in Bexley, with the majority of areas recording more than 200 new cases per 100,000 people.

The map displays weekly data from March when the pandemic began.

The latest data is for the week leading up to November 23.

It shows the rate of infection in each area and where positive cases have been confirmed in recent days.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England.

Areas are then colour coded based on the infection rate.

Seven-day rates are expressed per 100,000 population. They are calculated by dividing the seven-day count by the area population and multiplying by 100,000.

Blackfen in Bexley is the worst affected area by far in the south east, recording a concerning rate of 509.7 - among the worst in the UK.
