MEMBERS of the public are being invited to have their say on a permit to operate a new incinerator in Bridgwater.
Bridgwater Resource Recovery Ltd secured planning permission from Somerset County Council in 2015 to build an incinerator in the Showground Business Park.
The firm has now applied to the Environment Agency for an environmental permit so it can burn non-hazardous waste.
The Environment Agency has a duty to control certain activities which could harm the environment or human health. An environmental permit sets the conditions which Bridgwater Resource Recovery Ltd must meet when operating the installation.
You can view the permit application, together with the supporting documents, and submit your comments here or by emailing pscpublicresponse@environment-agency.gov.uk and quote application number EPR/UP3708SB/A001 in any correspondence.
If you need to access a paper copy, please contact The Environment Agency's Customer Contact Centre on 03708 506 506. They may charge to cover copying costs.
Comments are welcome on the application until 5pm on December 15 and only issues covered by the environmental permit will be considered.
The EA will then review all of the comments before making a final decision on whether or not to grant a permit.
