A man was tipped out of his mobility scooter and kicked in the ribs in what police called an unprovoked robbery of a defenceless man.

Wiltshire Police has appealed for anyone who may have seen the robbery in Old Walcot on Wednesday, October 28, to come forward.

The force said the victim, a 49-year-old man, was approached from behind in the park near Lainesmead Primary School off Eastern Avenue, at some time between 11pm on Wednesday, October 28, and 2am on October 29.

He was tipped out of his mobility scooter onto the ground and kicked in the ribs. At least two people rifled through his coat pockets. His Samsung A21S mobile phone and a torch were stolen.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on a defenceless man.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time. We would also ask people to check any dash cam footage if they were driving near Lainesmead Primary School on Wednesday evening.

“Even something you might think insignificant can sometimes prove useful.”

No description of the robbers has been given. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
