THERE have been 1,488 new coronavirus cases recorded in the North-East and North Yorkshire since Tuesday.
The Government said a further 310 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday. This brings the UK total to 45,675.
The Government said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 24,701 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK. It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 942,275.
Here is a breakdown of the latest confirmed cases in the region:
- County Durham: 11,159 was 10,993, an increase of 166
- Darlington: 1,898 was 1,872, an increase of 26
- Gateshead: 4623 was 4,545, an increase of 78
- Hartlepool: 2,153 was 2,110, an increase of 43
- Middlesbrough: 3,329 was 3,268, an increase of 61
- Newcastle: 8,424 was 8,290, an increase of 134
- North Tyneside: 3,820 was 3,731, an increase of 89
- North Yorkshire: 7,470 was 7,226, an increase of 224
- Northumberland: 5,055 was 4,976, an increase of 79
- Redcar and Cleveland: 2,374 was 2,334, an increase of 40
- South Tyneside: 3,469 was 3,417, an increase of 52
- Stockton: 4,310 was 4,192, an increase of 118
- Sunderland: 6,921 was 6,786, an increase of 135
