REGULARS at a village pub are set to pay their last respects to a former landlord who has died.

Philip Foxwell was a "true village man" in Churchinford, where he was landlord of the York Inn, a school bus driver and master baker in the family bakery.

Mr Foxwell died peacefully in Calway House, Taunton, on October 16, following a long illness. He was 83.

He was one of the founder members of the Blackdown Hills Skittles League and served as chairman for a number of years.

A post of the York Inn Facebook page says: "Philip will be making his final drive through the village on Tuesday, November 3, at approximately 10am and you are all welcome to come and pay your respects in the village before a small family funeral due to current restrictions."

Mr Foxwell, who was a keen hot rod racer, leaves two sons and two grandchildren. His wife, Isabel, died in October 2016.

A private funeral service is being held at 11am next Tuesday.

The service is on webcast www.obitus.com with username Taha2335 and password 095333.

Donations in his memory for the Royal British Legion (Churchstanton branch) may be sent to W.H. Berry & Son funeral directors, Brookfield, Churchstanton TA3 7RL.
