A RADIO station run entirely by volunteers is set to launch on November 5.

Burnham Radio is a community station that will cover Burnham-on-Sea, Highbridge, Breen, Berrow, and the surrounding villages.

Kevin Eagles, station manager and host, said: “Community Radio is a large passion of mine and I personally cannot wait for the station to be an entertaining service for the community.

“I am overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received and look forward to what the future holds for Burnham Radio.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support and kindness.”

The radio station will be broadcast 24 hours a day, and will provide a mix of music, specialist shows, as well as the latest news, traffic, travel, tide times and beach safety alerts.

Legends of the airways show host is Mike Ashford.

“It is so exciting to have a community project like this in Burnham, something from the community, for the community - in a time when there’s so much radio that’s one dimensional and scripted,” he added.

“This offers something diverse and varied for everybody.”

There will be world food specialist show, hosted by Chris Williams.

“We are all about the world of food and drink buying it making it growing it and cooking it,” he said.

“I look forward to joining listeners next month.”

Beth Fenwick is hoping to spread the word about mental health.

She said: “I am excited try something new.

“I’ve always wanted to do something in the entertainment business.

“I am so glad to be given this opportunity and to be able to work with a local charity, In Charlie’s Memory, to help spread the word about mental health.”

Alison Haywood will be the breakfast host (on air from 6am until 8am), Trevor Turvey will be the festival show host and Tania will be playing 80s music with her Into The Groove show.
