A POSITIVE case of Covid-19 has been confirmed at a Bridgwater school.

In a letter to parents today (October 20) Jason Eveleigh, headteacher of Westover Green Community School and Autism Centre, confirmed that there was a positive test for Covid-19.

The headteacher said the school is continuing to monitor the situation and remains open to students.

The letter said: "We have been advised last night that there has been a further confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school which will be discussed with Public Health England today.

"We know that you may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain symptom-free. If there are any subsequent decisions and actions you will be notified immediately."

The news comes just five days after a confirmed case and a highly likely case of Covid-19 was reported at the school on Thursday, October 15.

The school said it implemented strong measures to contain the outbreak of Covid-19

The school also sent a letter to parents on October 17 after another case of Covid-19 within the school in Elm class was confirmed.
