THE new Huntworth Community Building proudly opened its doors to Buttercups Nursery on Monday, September 7.

This week an official opening event was carried out, with the mayor of North Petherton Alan Bradford being invited along to cut the ribbon.

Although the building’s primary role is in the support of the existing Lakeview Holiday Cottage business, its secondary use is for the benefit of the local community and specifically the provision of a children’s day nursery.

Buttercup Nursery had outgrown it’s existing building in North Petherton and has now moved into the brand new Community Building at Notaro Way, Huntworth.

Nicola Davis Holman, the owner and manager of Buttercups Nursery, said she plans to open for 43 weeks of the year and intends to make full use of the new building including running a forest school, baby massages, a crèche for people staying in the adjacent Lakeview Holiday Cottages, and providing care for local school age children on inset days, as well as running lots of fun activities for children during holiday periods.

Mrs Davis Holman said: “My dream has always been to have a nursery that it totally conducive to caring for children and this building is perfect.

“We even have a sensory room.

“This is the fruition of a lot of hard work over the years and I am so excited that at last my dream has come true.”

Cllr Bradford said he was delighted to open the building on behalf of North Petherton Town Council, who supported Buttercups Nursery in finding its new home.

“I think this building is a real credit to the team here, they had to overcome awful weather and they were held up by the coronavirus pandemic but they have produced a superb new facility in good time,” Cllr Bradford said.

Joe Notaro, managing director of S. Notaro Limited added: “The building is designed to be used by the community as a whole and particularly for the use for the holidaymakers at Lakeview Cottages on the site.

“Buttercups Nursery are the ideal occupants who can provide an excellent service to everyone in the locality.

“We are very pleased with the building and I am sure that Nicola will make it a huge success.”
