A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a man was assaulted outside a theatre. 

On Tuesday (September 22) police launched an appeal for witnesses after the incident which happened outside The Playhouse Theatre in Weston-super-Mare at around 10.30pm on Monday night (September 21). 

Three men approached the man, who is in his 50s, and one of them pushed him to the ground, where he hit his head and fell unconscious.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said a 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in police custody. 

"We've arrested man on suspicion of GBH following a public appeal for information.

"Yesterday (September 22), we issued an appeal after a man in his 50s was left with a serious head injury after an assault in Weston-super-Mare.

"A 24 year-old man was arrested early this morning and remains in custody."
