A CHORUS with members from Wellington, Taunton and Bridgwater are celebrating 25 years of membership to Sweet Adelines International.

The group have been given an award by Sweet Adelines International (their international organisation) for achieving 25 years and being committed to the organisation.

A spokesperson for the chorus said: “Singsational Chorus was founded more than 25 years ago and has a wonderful history, full of friendships, success and a great deal of fun.

“We are a female four part harmony A Capella group and sing all genres of music including traditional barbershop and contemporary arrangements.

“Our members come from Wellington, Taunton, Bridgwater, all areas in between and as far away as the Lake District.

“Many of our chorus members who formed the original chorus are still with us and as fully engaged as ever.

“In fact of our 37 members, 10 were with us when we started.

“We are still going strong and during lockdown have been rehearsing weekly (either as the full chorus or in our sections) via Zoom learning new songs and even recruiting and auditioning new members.

“Our latest member was welcomed to the chorus officially in May of this year.

“The award is a wonderful achievement of which we are very proud.

“Over our years of membership we have represented our counties and regions in national and international competitions and achieved great success.”

The Taunton Singsational Chorus group usually meet at Bishops Hull Community School on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm until 10pm.
