A BRIDGWATER man is cycling 300 miles to raise money for homeless charities.

Steve Atkinson, 65, will be cycling from his home in Bridgwater to York Minster next week.

He is hoping to raise £1,000 for Arc in Taunton, who provide housing and support for the homeless and Kitchen for Everyone in York, who provide meals to the homeless and vulnerable.

Mr Atkinson said: "I am really excited. I was planning to do it in May but because of coronavirus I had to put it back. I do a lot of cycling every day.

“I just need to make sure I am ok with nutrition and climbing hills. I should be ok hopefully."

Mr Atkinson is also a volunteer for Arc in Taunton.

A spokesperson for Arc said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Steve for his ongoing support and for taking on such a brave and inspiring fundraising challenge!”

Starting on Tuesday, September 15, Mr Atkinson hopes to finish the 300 miles by Sunday, September 20.
