THE team at the Kendale Road McColls held a special charity Ice Bucket Challenge this weekend.

In the lead up to the event, customers could donate and nominate a member of staff to be doused with buckets of ice cold water, with money raised going to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Once the votes were in, it was store manager Lena Aisthorpe who received the most votes, and was duly drenched at the event in St George’s Hall.

Lena said: “It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, and I managed not to swear which was a pleasant surprise!

“It was a good event and I want to thank everyone who donated.”

The event raised £340, and also had a tombola, raffle and some craft stalls for visitors to enjoy.

You can still donate in store.
