LEISURE centres across Conwy will reopen next week.

From Tuesday, August 11, the following sites will open: Colwyn Leisure Centre; Eirias Events Centre; Llandudno Swim Centre; Abergele Leisure Centre; Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre; Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre; Llanrwst Swimming Pool and Hwb Yr Hen Ysgol.

The swimming pool will remain closed at Colwyn Leisure Centre and fitness suites will be shut at Llandudno Swim Centre and Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre.

On Monday, August 17, John Bright Leisure Centre will re-open.

A spokesperson from Conwy County Borough Council said: "All equipment will be cleaned regularly throughout the day by staff and social distancing guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Parts of the building will be temporarily closed throughout the day to allow staff to carry out deep cleaning of the equipment and surfaces.

"One way systems will be implemented in all sites where this is possible to allow safe entry and exit, the fitness suite equipment will be stationed at least two-metres apart and there will be markings on the floor for exercise classes."

Clubs will only re-start 'when it is safe to do so'.

After swimming sessions, people will be able to have showers but will only be given 10 minutes after their swim session to show, get changed and leave the changing rooms.

The spokesperson added: "This is essential to allow our staff to clean the changing rooms ready for the next group to use the facility."

Leisure centre users are asked to pay using card payments and to use contactless were possible.

Fitness class users will need to bring their own mat and yoga blocks and paper towels and anti-bacterial spray/hand wipes will be provided for use.
