A SOMERSET supplies firm has cleaned up at an annual awards, taking home four national prizes.

Bradfords Building Supplies has fended off tough competition to win trophies for best marketing campaign and multiple merchant of the year.

There were also individual awards for Juliet Tregellas, who won best merchant customer service, and Megan Norbury, who received the apprentice/trainee of the year prize.

The awards were handed out at the Builders’ Merchants Journal Industry Awards 2020.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the awards ceremony was carried out online, hosted by TV announcer Alan Dedicoat, also known as the ‘Voice of the Balls’ on the National Lottery.

Commenting on the multiple award wins, David Young, CEO of Bradfords Building Supplies, said: “2020 has been extremely challenging for everyone in the industry.

“This year also marks our 250th anniversary, and these accolades are a testament to the relentless hard work of our growing team across our network of 43 branches, who always put customer service first.”

It was Bradfords’ ad campaign ‘No Bull, Just Spring Deals You Won’t Believe’ that won best marketing campaign.

Now in its third year, the BMJ Industry Awards aims to recognise the huge amount of talent the industry has to offer. It’s also the only awards programme in the merchant calendar that is voted for by the industry.

In the past five years, Bradfords Building Supplies has doubled company turnover.

The company was founded in Yeovil, and its branches will celebrate the 250th birthday on September 17.

Mr Young added: “Bradfords has stood the test of time. We are a great British business success story.

“The 250th anniversary is a time for celebration and also for reflection. Our focus for 2020 is to get even closer to our customers and put all our energy into being the best and easiest merchant to do business with.”
