THE M5 has reopened after a man was struck by a vehicle and killed.
Police were called to the M5 at about 4.30am this morning (July 20) to a report of a pedestrian in the southbound carriageway.
Officers found an injured man just south of Junction 20 (Clevedon).
The man had been struck by a vehicle and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The M5 southbound between junction 20 for Clevedon and junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare was closed for a number of hours while police collision investigators were at the scene but it has since reopened.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said the man's next of kin have been informed.
"The driver involved has been spoken to by officers," the police spokesperson added.
"If you witnessed the incident, have dashcam footage which could help or any other information get in touch quoting reference 5220160731.
"If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5220160731."
