RESIDENTS in the Cheddar Moor Road are of Wedmore face serious disruption this month with roadworks over the next few weeks.

The roadworks are being carried out so that Wales & West Utilities can undertake essential gas works to support local residents and businesses.

The work is scheduled to take place from July 13 to 31 in two phases.

From July 13 to 20, two-way traffic signals will be in place on Clewer Bridge, while a road closure along the same stretch of road will come into place from July 21 to 31.

While this closure is in place a diversion route via the B3151, A371, A38, Bennett Rd, B3139 and the B3151 will be clearly signposted.

Wales & West Utilities programme controller Barry Sale, who is managing this gas pipe upgrade work, said: “We know that working on roads like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

"We’ll be working as safely and as quickly as possible to make sure the work is completed in a timely fashion, while keeping inconvenience to a minimum for local people and road users.

“Our engineers are following all hygiene and social distancing guidelines and we would respectfully ask that you keep a two-metre distance if passing our work site.

“This work will not only keep the gas flowing safely and reliably today, it will also help make sure the gas network is fit for the future and can play its part in delivering reliable and affordable green energy.”

Residents who have questions about the roadworks are asked to call 0800 912 299 or email enquiries@wwwutilities.co.uk.
