SOMERSET County Council has apologised after wrongly sending out a letter chasing 'monies due' to a number of parents and students.

The reminder letter dated last Thursday (June 24) asks recipients to settle up unpaid bills for "2019/2020 county tickets/school transport paid seats".

They are told to ignore the demand, which was wrongly sent automatically.

A County Hall spokesman told the County Gazette: "We are aware that some parents/students may have received a system-automated reminder letter dated 24 June 2020 regarding money due for their 2019/20 County Ticket/School Transport Paid Seats.

"Please ignore this reminder letter, sent out automatically and in error. Please also accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience and concern caused.

"If there is an outstanding balance due on any account, these payments will be followed up with a separate letter at a later date."
