A SIZEABLE donation from money raised by Captain Tom Moore has been made to a charity at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust's official charity Love Musgrove received the cash from the 100-year-old's marathon walking efforts.

Love Musgrove has so far received donations totalling £190,000, with hundreds of donations including locally.

The charity is already putting the money to good use.

Dan Varley, community fundraiser at Love Musgrove, said: “We are so grateful for the support of the people of Somerset.

"We’ve never seen an influx of donations like this and it has really helped our colleagues realise the support they have from our local community.

"We have been able to purchase radios for isolated patients, keep our colleagues fed on busy shifts and purchase iPads so that patients can communicate with their loved ones – all thanks to your generosity."

Captain Tom raised almost £40million for the NHS by walking laps of his garden as he approached his 100th birthday.

He has received a knighthood for his efforts.
