THERE are no new deaths from coronavirus in Somerset's hospitals in the latest figures published today (Sunday, May 17) by Public Health England.

Although there are still new cases of the virus arising in the county, the number of hospital deaths in the area covered by Somerset County Council has fallen in the last week.

The encouraging news relates to patients in the care of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, which was recently formed through the merger of Musgrove Park Hospital-based Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Yeovil and Weston.

The death toll in the area covered by Somerset County Council remains at 63.
