A FIFTH person has been identified in connection with a suspected robbery of a man in Bridgwater.

The update from the police is in relation to an incident shown in a video widely circulated on social media last night (Tuesday, May 12) which subsequently saw four teenagers arrested on suspicion of robbery in the early hours of this morning. 

Police confirmed the four remain in custody.

The victim, named locally as Karol Machnowski, was located and spoke with officers this afternoon.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing, however he is going to hospital as a precaution.

A fifth person believed to be linked to the incident on Monday night in Bridgwater has also been identified.

A video of the incident was circulated on social media, but police have pleaded with people to delete it so as not to hinder their investigation.

The footage shot on Monday night shows a man being kicked in the head, with a voice asking: "How is he alive?"

The victim is jumped on, kicked in the head and spat on before someone reaches for his pocket.

DI Richard Horsfall said: “We’d like to thank the members of the public who brought this video to our attention and those that have come forward with information following our appeals this morning.

“I would like to make people aware that we have had positive engagement from the wider families and witnesses to this incident and would encourage the community to allow us to investigate this incident without concerns in relation to repercussions.

“We would please ask everybody to remove the video from social media and not to post information about any of the individuals potentially involved, so as to allow us to carry out a thorough investigation into what happened."
