A METAL fabricating business has shown great initiative during the coronavirus crisis to create a product to help and improve health and safety at work.

The Edington-based company has developed Sanistands - a range of hand sanitiser stands that can be used in offices, manufacturing and retail environments.

Laura Coombes of Sanistands said: "We own a powder coating company in Kewstoke, and a metal fabricators just outside Bridgwater.

"Both these companies trade mainly on business to business transactions, and like most companies, back in March business began to suffer.

"We unfortunately had to furlough most of our staff in both factories.

"In the search for products to assist the safety of our employees, upon their return to work, we realised that there was a gap in the market."

Sanistands are made from steel, powder coated with a 'wipe clean antibacterial finish' and come with an adjustable sanitizer bottle holder.

Ms Coombes continued: "Like a lot of companies, we realise that work is not going to return to ‘normal’, and we are hope that by diversifying, and trying to pull custom in from elsewhere, we can ensure that there are jobs for our employees to return to.

"We hope this product can be of use to businesses in Bridgwater as they look to get back up and running."
