THE victim of a vicious attack during a robbery has been named locally as key worker Karol Machnowski.

Karol went missing following the assault but has since been located "all beat and bruised", according to a social media post by his brother Peter.

Peter added: "He's been found!! My family are extremely grateful for all the help and support from everyone!"

A video of the incident was circulated on social media, but police have pleaded with people to delete it so as not to hinder their investigation.

The footage shot on Monday night shows a man being kicked in the head, with a voice asking: "How is he alive?"

The victim is jumped on, kicked in the head and spat on before someone reaches for his pocket.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Staplegrove man Jamie Somerville with a target of raising £500 for Karol. It has already raised more than £100.

On the page, Mr Somerville writes: "Karol Machnowski was violently attacked on his way home.

"He suffered what seemed to be very damaging injuries to his head.

"This fundraiser is to help him get back what was stolen and help him pay for whatever he needs to help him in these times."

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said four teenagers have been arrested following the attack in Bridgwater.

He added: "We received a call at approximately 11.15pm last night (Tuesday, May 12) about a video on social media that showed an incident in Bridgwater.

"Four people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery – a 17-year-old female, a 17-year-old male and two 16-year-old males. They remain in custody."

Earlier today the police said they had identified the victim and were taking steps to locate him to check on his welfare.

The spokesman added: "CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing."

Officers are urging people not to share the video, and to not identify those involved for legal reasons.

Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to call 101 or report it online giving reference number 5220103361.
