BRIDGWATER'S Ramblers Carnival Club celebrated their annual club dinner on Saturday, March 7, after raising a staggering amount of money for charity throughout the year.

The boys at Ramblers CC - who are the last remaining carnival club with an all-male membership - selected Prostate Cancer UK as their charity of choice.

During the 2018 Carnival Concerts, the Ramblers CC decided to expand on their famous travelling idea - with "I'm a Rambler Get Me Outta Here", based loosely on ITV's "I'm a Celebrity".

Over the following year, many trials and challenges similar to the ones on the TV show were set and completed by various club members to raise funds.

Club secretary Paul Webber said: "What started as a two-week fundraiser turned into an incredible year for everybody involved, and we had people take part in Bridgwater and beyond."

At the club's annual dinner at Bridgwater Rugby Club on March 7, Matt Bell, the main orchestrator of the fundraising efforts, presented a cheque to a representative from the Prostate Cancer UK charity worth a phenomenal £13,326.20.

Mr Webber added: "The club would like to thank everybody for their support with this initiative, which really does show the wider positive impact of the Bridgwater Carnival family."
