POLICE stopped four people travelling in the same car in Taunton.

Avon and Somerset Police Chief Constable Andy Marsh said their action was 'not social distamcing.

When asked by an officer where they were going, they said: "To see a mate."

The police chief told the BBC that was clearly unacceptable given the new Government regulations to tackle coronavirus.

But he said most people in the force area were abiding by the emergency rules.
