GARDEN waste collections in Sedgemoor have been suspended in Sedgemoor today due to staff absences linked to coronavirus.

Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) said collections in Brent Knoll, East Brent, Brean, Lympsham, Rooksbridge, Weare, Sydenham, Wedmore, Blackford and Panborough have been suspended today (March 18).

A spokesperson for SWP, said: "The earliest these collections will be made is the next scheduled collection in two weeks, however, further disruption is likely.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience and are working hard with our contractors to keep it to a minimum – hopefully everyone will understand that we’re working in unusual and difficult circumstances.

"We’re looking at a suitable way of making sure people paying for garden waste collections don’t lose out and will provide further information when we have it."
