Brymore Academy pupils who board at the school have been sent home to self-isolate as coronavirus restrictions continue to affect schools in the Bridgwater area.

Staff shortages have seen some pupils sent home from Robert Blake Science College and Bridgwater College Academy already this week, and now the Cannington-based school which specialises in agriculture has been forced to take action.

A spokesman for Brymore Academy said: "Advice from the Boarding Schools Association is to treat each unit (boarding house) the same as you would a domestic house due to shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.

"Therefore as some boys showed symptoms (but no confirmed cases) all boys in the house were treated as you would your own family and advised to self isolate for 14 days.

"The health and safety of our boys and their families comes first."
