COUNCIL meetings and gatherings in Sedgemoor have been cancelled until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement issued today (March 16) Sedgemoor District Council said all meetings and gatherings will be cancelled until further notice but business at the council will continue by 'virtual and technological means.'

SDC also urged visitors to contact them by phone or online and not to come into their headquarters at Bridgwater House unless it is 'absolutely necessary.'

A spokesperson for Sedgemoor District Council, said: "Following government and Public Health England advice against the spread of the Covid-19 virus,

"Sedgemoor District Council will be cancelling meetings and gatherings, until further notice.

"However, everyday/routine business at Sedgemoor will continue, but by virtual and technological means and we would encourage people to contact us via our website www.sedgemoor.gov.uk or by telephone 0300 303 7800 and not come into Bridgwater House unless absolutely necessary.

"All visitors to Reception at Bridgwater House will be asked to follow hand washing procedures.

"Alternative arrangements for democratic processes will be put in place. "
