A PROPERTY was left badly damaged after a fire in Bridgwater

Firefighters were called at 11.43am on Sunday (February 23) to reports of a property fire in Old Taunton Road. 

 Two fire crews from Bridgwater were sent to the incident.

When crews arrived they confirmed that smoke was issuing from first floor bedroom of the property.

Crews requested a further two fire engines which were sent from Bridgwater and Taunton. 

Firefighters put out the fire using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet and two thermal image cameras.  

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Crews confirmed the first floor bedroom suffered 100 per cent fire damage, 20 per cent fire damage to remainder of first floor and 80 per cent smoke damage to the rest of the property. 

"The cause is under investigation."
