A ROW between Bridgwater-based Gerber Foods Manufacturing and union officials broke out this week in 1990 over the infamous poll tax.
The company told staff that if it had to attach an earnings order on worker's wages to recover the Community Charge, it would claim £1 for each transaction.
Staff were already reeling from the £350 poll tax demanded by Sedgemoor District Council and the move left industrial relations with staff in tatters.
