A PEDESTRIAN is in hospital with 'life threatening' injuries following a crash. 

Emergency services were called to The Clink, Bridgwater, at around 8pm last night (February 18). 

The crash involved a male pedestrian and a car. 

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening head and back injuries. 

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at about 8pm last night outside The Job Centre at The Clink, Bridgwater.

"A pedestrian was in collision with a car.

"The man suffered life threatening head and back injuries and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital."

Officers spoke with the driver following the crash.

He has since been transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. 

This morning, the road is still being affected. 

A spokesperson for Buses of Somerset said: "Due to a police incident buses are unable to use Clink Bridge coming back towards bus stn.

"So at the moment we are unable to serve stops on St Mary St, High St or Mount St.

"Please make your way to the bus station.

"We apologise in advance."
