AN elderly man has admitted three charges of flying over a beach at less then 500 feet as holidaymakers looked in.

David William John Hoare, 64, committed one of the offences over Brean Beach on May 1 last year and two of them over The Esplanade and Pavilion, Burnham-on-Sea, on May 21 and July 5.

Four further similar charges which Hoare, of Hurcot, Somerton, had denied, were dismissed when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The court heard that Hoare breached the Air Navigation Order 2016 when flew his paramotor aircraft.

He was handed a restraining order banning him from flying any aircraft over an excluded zone at Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow, Brean and Brean Down.

He was also fined a total of £450 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £200 costs.
