THE Bridgwater and West Somerset Labour Party has given its backing to Keir Starmer to be the next leader of the party.
Members debated the matter at Bridgwater Town Hall on Friday night (February 7), and after an hour or so of discussion, it came to the vote.
Emily Thornberry was eliminated in the first round of voting, and Lisa Nandy in the second round, it was then a two horse-race between Rebecca Long-Bailey and Keir Starmer.
By a margin of five votes, Mr Starmer secured the win and now becomes the official nomination from Bridgwater and West Somerset Labour Party.
