A NEW development in Bridgwater will create more than 450 jobs in the local area, the builder behind the scheme has claimed.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley this week launched its new 148-property Westminster Walk development on Kings Down.

The first houses have been released for sale – and dozens of people have already registered an interest.

Persimmon has revealed that the development will create 459 new jobs in the Bridgwater area, based on figures from the House Builders Federation.

The stats show that 3.1 direct, indirect and induced jobs are created for every house built.

Carly Spear, head of sales at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We are delighted to have launched this significant development in Bridgwater.

“Westminster Walk will bring much-needed new properties to the market, allowing people the opportunity to settle in the town.

“Furthermore, the hundreds of new jobs will be a huge fillip to the area. We’re proud to be helping to drive the economy forward.”

Westminster Walk is made up of a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

“From our past experience of building in Bridgwater, we are anticipating these properties to be in high demand,” Carly said.
