BRIDGWATER Choral Society have two exciting events coming up this year.

Remember the stunning music in the film Amadeus and the composer’s desperate efforts against illness to fulfil his commission to write the famous Requiem?

Well, if you want to sing Mozart, then on Saturday, February 15, Bridgwater Choral Society is inviting you to come along to the Salvation Army hall in Bridgwater.

The Choral Society have also started rehearsals for their next concert that will take place on Saturday, May 16 2020 in St. Mary’s Church as part of VE Day 75th celebrations.

The event will be dedicated to those heroes and heroines from Bridgwater and district, who fought so bravely to defend our freedom and bring peace to our country.

The choir will be singing music by two composers who both had intense experiences of war, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gerald Finzi.

There will be a sixty plus choir, soprano and baritone soloists accompanied by an orchestra and brass section.

Bridgwater Mercury:

The concert will be conducted by musical director Iain Cooper, who is originally from Bristol and has a long association with music in Avon, Somerset and Gloucestershire. He celebrates his 16th year of conducting Bridgwater Choral Society.

The choir will celebrate it’s 70th anniversary as a re-formed choir after the years of WW11.
