A SOMERSET college has made the shortlist for a prestigious national award.

Strode College has been named among the most outstanding individuals and institutions in the further education (FE) sector by making a shortlist in the 2020 Tes FE Awards.

The Street-based college has been shortlisted for the FE College of the Year award, with the winners announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London's Park Lane, on March 20.

Katy Quinn, principal of Strode College, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Strode has made it to the shortlist for FE College of the Year 2020.

"The submission focused on the breadth and quality of our offer, the impact we have on our local community and future lives of our students.

"It is recognition of the outstanding commitment and passion from a brilliant team of staff at Strode.

"I’m looking forward to March 20 in London."

Tes FE editor, Stephen Exley, said: "Excellent practice exists right across the further education sector, and those shortlisted for the Tes FE Awards are the cream of the crop. Our judges were extremely impressed with the calibre of entries.
