A GROUP of fundraisers have raised more than £500 for a charity which supports homeless people by hosting a Christmas fair.

The Burnham-on-Sea Socialites filled Burnham Methodist Church Hall with stalls on December 14 to raise £540.20 for Victoria's Kitchen.

The Weston-super-Mare based charity helps the homeless and vulnerable by providing them with hot meals, advice and support.

The Socialites have raised more than £3,000 for Victoria's Kitchen through different events including spring and Christmas fairs and variety evenings over the last two and half years.

The group arranges social events and activities throughout the year for its members and hosts a number of events to support Somerset based charities.

A spokesperson for the Burnham-on-Sea Socialites, said: " We would like to say a big thank you to all who have supported these fundraising events during the last few years.

" Do look out for more events in 2020.

"Every penny raised goes to help those who need a helping hand"

Members of the group handed over a cheque to representatives from Victoria's Kitchen at a special ceremony at the church on Monday (January 6) and a spokesperson for the charity said the money will be used to continue their work to support homeless people in Weston and its surrounding areas.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "We would like to say a big thank you to all at Burnham-on-Sea Socialites at Burnham-on-Sea for raising £540.20 at their Christmas fayre for us at Victoria’s kitchen. Many many thanks."
