SEDGEMOOR District Council has carried out two prosecutions for people causing too much noise in Bridgwater.

The two cases were heard at Taunton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 11and prosecuted under Section 79 of the Environmental Protection Act.

The first involved a Mr Fear of Brigg Close in Bridgwater, who had been leaving two dogs unattended outside all day while he was a work.

After nearby residents returned record sheets, the council were able to install noise recording equipment.

The dogs' barking was found to be causing a nuisance and a notice was served.

Unfortunately, the notice was ignored and there were further multiple breaches witnessed with noise recording equipment. Mr Fear was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay £250 costs and £100 victim surcharge.

The second case was against Finchcourt Ltd and Mr Lilley, who were both fined £6,000 are ordered to pay £250 costs and a £150 victim surcharge.

This was following complaints of loud amplified music coming from the Gallery nightclub in Bridgwater and affecting a neighbouring property to such an extent that the property was almost uninhabitable.
