BRIDGWATER'S New Look store re-opened today nine months after a fire devastated the building.

Firefighters who helped save the store were invited to attend the re-opening of the shop which was held this morning (Wednesday, December 18).

The store on the Cornhill in Bridgwater has been out of action since March since the blaze, but after long restoration works the store is officially open again, and just in time for Christmas.

Firefighters were called out to the store at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 13 this year after several members of the public reported a fire at the building.

Once the scale of the fire was realised, a total of 15 fire crews were deployed to battle the blaze, and they were on the scene into the early hours of the morning.

Fortunately no-one was injured in the incident, and the cause of the fire was deemed accidental by the fire service.

The fire affected four storeys of the property which included the New Look store and basement, as well as unoccupied flats above the shop.

The building suffered 10 per cent fire damage and 40 per cent smoke damage.

The store also held flash giveaways when customers had the chance to win a goody bag, discount or free gift with purchase.
