BRIDGWATER'S New Look store will re-open this week nine months after a fire devastated the building.

The store on the Cornhill in Bridgwater has been out of action since March since the blaze, but after long restoration works will officially open again just in time for Christmas.

Firefighters were called out to the store at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 13 this year after several members of the public reported a fire at the building.

Once the scale of the fire was realised, a total of 15 fire crews were deployed to battle the blaze, and they were on the scene into the early hours of the morning.

Fortunately no-one was injured in the incident, and the cause of the fire was deemed accidental by the fire service.

The fire affected four storeys of the property which included the New Look store and basement, as well as unoccupied flats above the shop.

The building suffered 10 per cent fire damage and 40 per cent smoke damage.

However after many months of works the store will re-open again at 10am on Wednesday, December 18.

Some of the firefighters who helped save the store will cut the ribbon and there will be flash giveaways at 10am, 1pm and 4pm when customers will have the chance of winning a goody bag, discount or free gift with purchase.
