BRIDGWATER’S St John and St Francis Church School has been told it ‘requires improvement’ by Ofsted.

Inspectors said children ‘enjoy school, behave well and are friendly and polite to adults’, but also found early years provision had ‘improved’ but ‘was not yet good enough’.

The report recognises the achievements of the school to date and says that new leaders are driving improvement briskly.

The report also sets out what the school needs to do next, including ensuring that the new curriculum is clearly sequenced.

Headteacher Jenny Venning said: “We are delighted that the Behaviour and Personal Development of our children has been recognised as good and a real strength of our school.

“We are also pleased that the work on school improvement that we have done to date has also been recognised.”

"We are all committed to continuing to make St John and St Francis Church School the very best it can be."

The school also received a 'Requires Improvement' grading at its previous inspection.
