THE car park at St George’s Church in Wembdon has been given a free resurfacing thanks to a generous local business owner.

The Parish Centre at St George’s Church hosts a variety of community events and clubs from toddlers to scouts, knitters and keen photographers, to singers and chess players.

With all this activity the highly used car park was deteriorating fast and so a team of church volunteers set about patch repairing the surface.

On starting the work they discovered that Church Road was about to be surface dressed and asked for a contact to see how much it would cost to surface dress the church car park.

This resulted in Mike Kiely, owner of carriageway surface specialists Kiely Bros, very generously offering to surface dress the church car park free-of-charge as a good will gesture to the church and community of Wembdon.

Kiely Bros have been the surface dressing contractor for Somerset County Council’s Highways Department for the past five years.

Churchwarden Paul Hodge said: “It is amazing to see how God works, it was like a miracle.

“Everyone at the Church and Parish Centre would like to thank Mr Kiely for his generosity which will help us to continue serving the local community.”
